Embarking on my journey as a teacher candidate for the intermediate-senior division, I’ve focused my undergraduate studies in human biology, classical civilizations, and bioethics. The intersectionality of science, philosophy, and history allows me to approach my teaching with an understanding of content alongside critical thinking beyond the curriculum. With this multifaceted background, I am eager to inspire and engage students to take control of their learning and success.
For this reason, I prefer the title Rhetor (REY-tor).
In ancient Rome, a rhetor trained older students in public speaking, astronomy, literature, philosophy, music, and religion. I use this term to address myself, acknowledging that in a similar way, social sciences, general sciences, and critical thinking are the descendants of the old subjects, and interlinking content with other subjects can enrich and strengthen learning.
